Question 1

How is Nigeria's GPA or CGPA calculated?

Accepted Answer

Each course's grade points are multiplied by its credit units and the total is divided by the total credit units, producing a credit-weighted CGPA on the Nigerian 5.0 CGPA scale.

Question 2

What is the maximum value on Nigeria's scale?

Accepted Answer

The Nigerian 5.0 CGPA scale runs to a maximum of 5, reported to 2 decimal places. CGPA is calculated and expressed correct to two decimal places; class boundaries are applied to the unrounded value.

Question 3

Which grades count toward Nigeria's CGPA?

Accepted Answer

Every course you register for and receive a grade in counts, including failed courses, unless your institution's regulations state otherwise. Always check your own handbook.

Question 4

Can I edit the scale for my own institution?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Any preset can be copied to a Custom scale and its grade points edited to match your institution's policy, while the original source link and last-verified date stay visible.
